It won’t be wrong to say that 2024 came with its fair share of surprises. From blockbuster releases to our favourite celebrities making a solid Hollywood debut, the year, in one word, has been fabulous.
Be it the sand-swept dystopian landscapes of Dune: Prophecy or the dazzling high-society intrigue of The Perfect Couple, Bollywood actors brought fresh dimensions to Hollywood storytelling.
Do you agree?
Now, let us take a look at the major Holywood debuts of 2024:
Tabu in Dune: Prophecy
Tabu plays the role of Sister Francesca, a “strong, intelligent, and alluring” woman. She brought her grace and power to the screen. Needless to say, Tabu was fantastic.
Her entry in the penultimate episode set the tone for a gripping showdown as Sister Francesca worked to convince Emperor Dune (played by Mark Strong) to consider a bold opportunity for their son.
As per the makers, Sister Francesca “once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.”
Ishaan Khatter in The Perfect Couple
Ishaan Khatter received much love for his character, Shooter Dival, in the murder mystery.
Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, the series centres around a lavish Nantucket wedding that takes a dark turn when a corpse is discovered.
Amidst the secrets and high-society intrigue, Ishaan’s character stands out as the groom’s best man and a close family friend. His performance added layers to the complex web of relationships.
Directed by Susanne Bier, The Perfect Couple became an instant hit, with Ishaan’s sharp portrayal receiving critical acclaim.
Sobhita Dhulipala in Monkey Man
Sobhita Dhulipala’s Hollywood journey began with her role in Dev Patel’s directorial debut, Monkey Man.
After a gruelling audition process, Sobhita bagged the role of Sita, a character that carries emotional weight despite limited screen time.
Set in a neo-noir world, the film follows Dev Patel’s character, Kid, who seeks revenge and justice after a tragic childhood event.
Banita Sandhu in Bridgerton Season 3
Another big name we can’t skip this year was Banita Sandhu, who joined the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, in its third season.
As Miss Malhotra, Sandhu brought charm and elegance to the period drama, adding fresh energy to the show.
Split into two parts, the eight-episode season explored complex relationships and intriguing new characters, with Sandhu’s Miss Malhotra playing a key role.
Fans praised her performance, making her a standout addition to the Bridgerton family and we can’t wait to see more of her in the upcoming seasons.
