Liam Payne’s Old Tweet Resurfaces As One Direction Member Is Laid To Rest

Fans, family and friends bid a tearful goodbye to Liam Payne at his funeral. On Wednesday (November 20), the singer and former One Direction member was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Church in Buckinghamshire, England. His One Direction teammates Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan were present at the private service too. Amid the ongoing funeral proceedings, a past tweet by a young Liam resurfaced on the internet. It read, “If I die would you come to ma (my)  funeral?”. The post was uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) in 2010. 

Heartbroken fans were quick to react to the emotional post. 

“Why did you write that? this hurt,” exclaimed a person. 

As if replying to Liam Payne an individual said, “Yes we would. And your beloved ones were there. You also watched each process. You were there  I know with your soul. Wish we could bring you back. Forgive us, Liam. But we still got  Bear Now rest in peace. The world LOVES YOU!”

Here’s another touching remark, “They came, Rest in peace, enjoy paradise, you did well, you lived.”

A user noted that it feels “unreal… to see this when today is his funeral.”

Among the other attendees who paid their last respects to Liam Payne were his girlfriend Kate Cassidy and his ex-partner and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl. Liam and Cheryl share a 7-year-old son Bear Grey. Liam’s friend James Corden, One Direction co-creator Simon Cowell and his fiance Lauren Silverman were there too. 

On October 16, Liam Payne died after falling three floors from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31. A press release issued by the  National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No 14 on November 7 revealed that Liam’s toxicology results showed traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in his body. Prosecutors however ruled out “self-harm of any kind and/or physical intervention by third parties” as a cause for his death. 

Liam Payne was born in Wolverhampton, England. He gained attention on The X Factor in 2008 and joined One Direction in 2010.
